Welcome to the month of The Holy Spirit. It’s a month wherein the Holy Spirit will reposition many lives to the glory of God; as many as are so yielded to His leading.
Many believe that to survive in this world, one must be tough, strong, unbending, and may be harsh and ruthless. But God says “Not by might nor by Power, but by My Spirit”. The keywords are “by My Spirit”. It is only through God’s Spirit that anything of lasting value is accomplished. As God’s people, It’s a call for us in this month of August to tune in and be deeply led by the power of the Holy Spirit
The bible says, He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers (John 10:3b-5)
There are many voices clamoring for our attention, but there is nothing more worthy of consideration than the voice of the Holy Spirit. Beloved, each and everyone of us can be led by the Holy Spirit. It’s not just for a select few with unusual spiritual aptitude. We were created to be conduits of the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit, to hear from God and be creative thinkers, just like our Heavenly Father.
We live in a world where people are hungry for answers. And in the dark, they seek different mediums, which are nothing short of demonic counterfeits. They settle for these evil and lame alternatives largely because neither them nor any around them can hear and decipher the voice of the Holy Spirit.
To hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and be led by Him requires that we fortify ourselves by getting in the Word, praying in the Spirit, and continually walking in love. This way, we will become more and more sensitive to the subtle promptings of the Holy Spirit. We will then walk in the Spirit, not in the flesh. We will be less dull and more perceptive, less static and more dynamic, less fleshly and more spiritual! We will grow stronger, and the fruit of the Spirit will show up powerfully in our lives.
The bible says that ‘This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success’ (Joshua 1:8).
God wants us to get hold of the realities of His Word and be full of fervency and awareness—listening to, gazing upon, and meditating on the Scriptures. When we get in this Book and pay attention, it gives us wisdom to know what is of God. A good number of us needs to get back in the promises of God, perhaps give less and less time to our TV and sundry entertainments and spend quality moments in the Word. We do not necessarily have to read the entire Bible at every sitting. Deliberate and planned studies with conscious efforts are vital to making great success at this. The awesome creation story, the rich wisdom in the Proverbs, the adorations in the Psalms, the exemplary lifestyle of the Saviour recorded in the gospel and the rich admonitions and exhortations laced up in the epistles would all make an amazing read.
We are called to watch over our hearts with all diligence, for from them flow the springs of life. We are to put away from us a deceitful mouth and devious speech. Our eyes must look directly ahead and our gaze fixed straight in front of us with unbroken focus. We much watch the path of our feet so that all our ways will be established. We are not to turn to the right nor to the left from the good path but are admonished to remove our foot from evil (Proverbs 4:23-27)
Before great opportunities, we have to get tuned up. As we renew our minds in the Word, our thought life won’t be so easily highjacked by distractions and we’ll be able to tune in to the Holy Spirit to receive wisdom, clarity, decision-making ability, and healing. We are a great resource in the hands of God. So we must make certain to develop what God has freely deposited in us. We should never allow the voice of our needs, no matter how pressing crowd out whatever God is trying to say to us.
We should never allow temptations that present themselves as opportunities get us to do something else when God’s disciplining us to stay on the task He’s called us to fulfill. It is that time now for us to get ready and stay in tune with the Holy Spirit!
There are huge opportunities waiting for us this month. Many would experience significant progress this season and testimonies of turnaround would abound. Stay blessed.
